The Wii has taken over!!!

A good friend often tells me "God rewards good choices". We have tried over the year to make good choices, in particular with our finances...although we could always do better, that's the perfectionist in me;I'm working on that. Anyways, about 6 weeks before Christmas David won a Wii package deal at his work (Dell). He was elated! All our son has asked for this year is this game system, as we responded with explanations about why we could not get that this year. So we were possibly more excited than Davis on Christmas morning...there's nothing better than seeing your child light up with excitement over something! I crave those moments.

Wii will strive to remember that "God does reward good choices" in the coming year, 2008. I must say the Wii was just the icing on the cake...we were rewarded and blessed in soooo many ways in 2007! Have a Happy New Year!!!

Blowing Snow!

It's blowing snow here in the great state of Oklahoma! This morning I watched the weather and didn't bat an eye at the report ...until I walked out of the mall at 2:20 pm this afternoon. Oh, and that's another story in itself! So, needless to say we are experiencing yucky weather, to say the least. My 9 year old has bloodshot eyes from watching TV all morn and playing a video game. He looks forward to Saturday's because we don't have cable, so he doesn't watch TV during the week. He crams it all in on Saturday mornings. Sooo.....I better go talk him in to playing a board game or something...and maybe have some hot chocolate.

The pressure is on!

Ok, so maybe you've received my mass email about my blog. Thanks for stopping by! I really enjoy doing this, but it's alot more fun if people actually read them and leave comments. So do you know how to bookmark or mark as a favorite, so you remember to come back? Please do so.
If you don't have a blog, make one. It's pretty easy I promise. Your friends and family will enjoy it. No pressure here; or "peer pressure that is". Don't we only wish this was the only kind of "peer pressure" our innocent children will be facing in the years to come? Referring to the picture above.
Soooo if you have a blog let me know so I can add you on my list. If not, take some time over the Christmas break to create one. If you have any questions I will be more than happy to answer them.
I pray you will have a Merry Christmas! Only 5 days of shopping left....Jeri that means you! :)
Hope to hear from all of you soon!

Living off the land

If I could "live off the land" I would. Did you know that about me? Many of you probably did not. Just to let you know I am fascinated with simple living, homesteading, living off the grid, farming, and other topics such as these. It is not uncommon for me to be reading about doing this or how to go about doing it.
As for now I must be content with my situation. I pray that in the future I will be able to pursue my dream of living the rural life. David, he is not as keen on the idea. I think my children would adapt easily. What child would not want to be able to run free and climb trees at their hearts content? My son reminds me that he will not be helping feed the animals. :)lol That is the part I love. I love to take care of things and watch them grow. From child rearing to gardening...
Who knows what God has planned....maybe it will happen. As for now I will research and learn about these fascinating lifestyles.

Sweet Potato Pie!

I had my first taste of sweet potato pie this year. After delivering meals on Thanksgiving at our church we returned to the building to have our meal. I commented on how wonderful the pumpkin pie was. I was quickly informed that it was sweet potato not pumpkin. Needless to say I ate two more pieces that day.

I made my first sweet potato pie this weekend. It is almost gone!

If you like pumpkin pie try sweet potato someday it is soooo good!!!

I'm trying everything...

Phillips Craig & Dean

Last night we had the opportunity to go to a free concert put on by Phillips Craig and Dean! It was so fun. This was Davis' fisrt concert, he really enjoyed it. I had no idea how many songs I knew that they sing.

Something odd did happen. A man behind me tapped on my shoulder and asked if I attended the church we were at. "No", I replied. He then continued to inform me that PCD was involved w/ Pentecostal Oneness...a church that believes in baptism as part of salvation, "like the CofC" he said. I proceeded to inform him I was a member of the CofC. He was quiet for a moment, then started quoting verses. I believe he was intending to have an all out discussion about this 5 mins. before the concert. I'm sure he sensed I was not interested. Before he slipped out w/ his son 30 mins. before the concert was over he handed me a brochure bashing PCD...what nerve.

Help...

I'm trying to figure out how to add friends to my list w/o having to type in their whole address??? Also, how do I know if they update their blog, do I subscribe to it??? I've been a myspace girl for awhile, this is all new. But fun!

I'm still alive...

I'm going to give it a go again! I really do like the whole blogging thing. I love to read all the blogs of other friends who blog. Some of you are so witty. I have to say it brightens my day. So here I go again. Hopefully I can be as interesting.

Life around here is up and down. Just got my car out of the shop after hitting a deer about 3 weeks ago! We are OK. More traumatized by the vision of the deer staggering into the woods. It confirmed why I never became a veterinarian. I was soooo concerned about the doe, might I add the large doe we hit. The van is back and in great shape. However, if any of you know how to buff an old headlight to match the new one I now have, let me know!

I must sign off. I am blessed to have the opportunity to go see Phillips Craig and Dean in concert tonight! Maybe I will apply some mascara for this venture tonight.

An uneventful Saturday for the Brown's

Ok, so I'm going to try and add more today! I need to figure out how to invite my friends (you) as my blog buddies....As for now I'm going to take a short nap while Sophie is asleep. Davis has informed me that he wants to be a "bum" today. Sounds good to me.

My adorable family.

I've only just begun...

After myspacing for about a year, I have once again created a blog. I still have my myspace, but I'm adding this too. I enjoy sharing with friends, this is just another way to go about doing it. Some say blogging is a little more personal...I agree. Bare with me while I learn the ropes.
